Enormous 13-pound Maine lobster - measuring 32” from claw to tail.
To make this print, Dwight Hwang had to take the lobster apart and print it piece by piece. The finished gyotaku took over 4 weeks to complete.
The lobster weighed 13 pounds which is very rare in itself, but the extreme rarity of this piece comes from a conversation I had with Dwight Hwang that it is highly unlikely he will ever be able to repeat this type of print due to its painstakingly long & tedious process.
