Robert B. Chenoweth, Founder
As an avid angler, Robert became interested in gyotaku as a method of commemorating catches made on the water. Since then, he has become a collector, an innovator, and an expert in the field.

What is Gyotaku?
Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese art form that originated in the mid-1800s as a method for fishermen to record their catches.
Using Sumi ink and Washi paper, the actual fish is carefully inked and pressed to create a detailed, life-sized impression—preserving both the beauty and individuality of each specimen.
Today, Gyotaku has evolved into a respected and collectible art form, blending scientific accuracy with aesthetic expression.
